Mr. Predictor's Football Jackpot King Preview: January 11-12

Hi gang! I’ve been looking at the list on this weekend’s football jackpot and have picked ten games to talk you through. If you agree with me, you can buy your tickets here.

Everton v Brighton (Premier League)

The Seagulls have only taken eight points from a possible 30 away from home this season, losing six of their ten games on the road. Thy have lost three of their last five games in all competitions and only won two of their last ten. (1)

Wolves v Newcastle (Premier League)

Newcastle have lost four of their last five league games and drew at League One side Rochdale last week, despite Steve Bruce fielding a fairly strong side. Wolves have found form and have picked up good results in their last two home games (a win over Manchester City and a draw with Man United). (1)

Leicester v Southampton (Premier League)

The last time these teams met, Leicester won 9-0! I was disappointed by their display against Aston Villa on Wednesday but they still have the quality to beat this Saints side again. They have won 11 of their last 15 league games and I have to be sensible here. (1)

Tottenham v Liverpool (Premier League)

Liverpool are 13 points clear at the top of the Premier League and have only failed to win one of their 20 games so far this season. They’ve also won their last four games against Tottenham, who have only won one of their last five games in all competitions. (2)

Barnsley v Huddersfield (Championship)

Even though they are second from bottom in the Championship, Barnsley have only lost one of their last six league games. They’ve been strong at Oakwell this season, losing just four of their 13 league games there. Huddersfield are only three places above them in the standings and have won three of their last ten games. (X)

Blackburn v Preston (Championship)

Neither of these teams are performing particularly well right now, so I’m looking at their home and away form respectively. Blackburn have only lost twice at home all season and have won three of their last five matches at Ewood Park. Preston haven’t won away since November 3rd and have lost three of their last five games on their travels. (1)

Reading v Nottingham Forest (Championship)

Reading are on the rise! The Royals have climbed to 12th after four successive wins in the Championship. They are now unbeaten in their last seven games in all competitions. Forest have won their last three games in the league, though, and will be hard to beat. (X)

Bristol Rovers v Doncaster (League One)

Why am I backing Doncaster here? They are in much better form, having taken ten points from a possible 15 in their last five games. Bristol Rovers haven’t won any of their last six games in all competitions and have lost four of their last five games against Doncaster. (2)

Southend v Tranmere (League One)

Both of these sides are in the relegation zone, although Tranmere are 21 points above Southend, who look doomed. The home team haven’t won in the league since September but they have drawn four of their last six games. Tranmere haven’t won an away game since November 2nd. (X)

Cardiff v Swansea (Championship)

This is a derby, and a fiery one at that. Cardiff have drawn four of their last six games and have only been beaten twice at home this season. Swansea are in the play-off places but they have won just three of their last ten games. Since it’s a competitive derby, I’m expecting a close game. (X)
