Big Game Focus: Germany v Netherlands

The top spot in Group A1 will be on the line when the resurgent Netherlands face Germany in tonight’s clash in the UEFA Nations League.  The Big Game Focus takes a look below with some smart tips for your consideration.

The Netherlands did beat Germany in the reverse fixture for the first time since 2002 and they will be heading into this one full of confidence. To confirm their credentials, they just saw off the world champions France by a 2-0 scoreline in their last fixture.

The Germans have been relegated to League B and, going by the comments of the coach Joachim Low, we are likely to see a very youthful German side. They have not looked very solid defensively but they have a host of impressive forwards to compensate for that.

The priority for the visitors will be to avoid defeat and for that reason, we can expect them to approach the game cautiously. For the Germans, they will be playing without pressure which can be a good or a bad thing depending on how they turn up. One thing for sure is that they will attack from the word go as they try to spoil the party for the Oranje.

Betting preview

Netherlands are averaging 2.23 goals in the UEFA Nations League, while they are conceding an average of 1.45. The Germans for their part are averaging 1.53 whilst conceding an average of 1.74. Odds of 1.60 for Both Teams to Score looks very attractive here.

The stakes are higher for the visitors, who will seek to top the group with a draw here and, whereas the Germans have struggled lately, they are a good side especially when playing in front of their home fans. There is value to back an Away Win with insurance of a Draw No bet at odds of 2.80 here.

Germany have seen Over 2.5 Goals in four of their last five outings whilst the same is true in three of the Dutch’s last five. Therefore backing Over 2.5 Goals promises decent returns at odds of 1.65 here.

Betting preview

Germany missed Marco Reus, Mats Hummels and Toni Kroos for their game against Russia, though they are all likely to return to the starting XI here. Joshua Kimmich is also set to continue in midfield, while the likes of Leroy Sane and Serge Gnabry could keep their places in the front after scoring the last time out.

Koeman is unlikely to make too many changes to the side that faced France on Friday and played so well. Therefore, it will be the same lineup that secured a memorable 3-0 win over the Germans last month.

Possible lineups

Germany: Neuer, Sule, Hummels, Rudiger, Kerher, Kimmich, Kroos, Hector, Gnabry, Werner, Sane.

Netherlands: Cillessen, Dumfries, de igt, Van Dijk, Blind, de Roon, deJong,  Bergwijn, Wijnaldum, Babel, Depay.
