Top 5 Outrights to win Premier League Golden Boot

The 2019/2020 Premier League season is upon us. There’ll be a host of strikers including Harry Kane, Mo Salah and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang vying for the highly coveted Golden Boot. Here are the Top 5 Outrights to win the 2019/2020 Golden Boots. Bet on the Premier League here.

Harry Kane

The World Cup Golden Boot winner endured an injury-plagued 2018/2019 season playing 28 games scoring 17 goals. The England international has won two Premier League Golden Boots, in the 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 seasons, which makes him a favourite for this season’s title. The 26-year-old has scored 122 goals in the last five seasons which is a testament to his potency in front of goal. If he can manage to stay healthy, he’ll be one of the men to beat for the Golden Boot.

Mohamed Salah

Salah made a mockery of those who called him a one-season wonder after his record-breaking 32 Premier League goals in 2017/2018, following that up with another 22 goals last campaign. With Liverpool looking to challenge for the league title again next season again, Salah will be hungrier to deliver in front of goal. The Egyptian can no longer be dismissed. With Liverpool keeping most of their core players, next season might even be better for Salah. Egypt’s early elimination from the Africa Cup of Nations was a blessing in disguise in that it gave the 28-year-old more resting time for the new season.

Sergio Aguero

Sergio Aguero will go down as one of the Premier League’s greatest strikers. Since he made his debut at Manchester City in 2011, he’s grown to be one of the best strikers in world football. From his extraordinary title-winning goal in the 2011/2012 season, to his match-winning heroics in the last few seasons, the Argentine has done it all. However, it’s still mind-boggling that he’s only won one Golden Boot in the Premier League. Given his consistency, he’s always going to challenge for it. Even though he’s in his 30s now, Aguero is a proven finisher and will have a lot to say in next season race for the Golden Boot.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

In just 49 appearances in the Premier League, Aubameyang has scored 32 goals. A staggering statistic which shows just how lethal he is. Last season, he finished with 22 goals winning the Golden Boot alongside Salah and Sadio Mane. One thing to notice though is Arsenal coach Unai Emery pushed out wide last season to accommodate Alexandre Lacazette as a striker. If used through the middle more, the Gabon international could do more damage. Last season, moreover, he didn’t go more than three matches without scoring, meaning he’ll always be a threat.

Sadio Mane

Twenty-two goals from wide is exceptional. The Senegalese international will be looking to do the same this coming season given Liverpool’s ambition to win the Premier League and defend their Champions League title. Moreover, Mane will be motivated by his Africa Cup of Nations performance where he scored three goals which led his country to the final. His movement and finishing can only and with his unpredictability in front of goal he is a worthy Golden Boot contender.

Outsiders

Raheem Sterling

The Manchester City winger had a phenomenal season in the last campaign finishing with 17 goals which helped City defend their title. On top of that, he also finished with 10 assists which shows his all-round game. Matching that will not be easy for Sterling given the wealth of attacking talent on his team. He might be better next season and that’s a reason not to count him out.

Jamie Vardy

In Leicester’s extraordinary title-winning campaign in the 2015/2016 season, Vardy missed the Golden Boot by a whisker with 24 goals, just one shy of Kane’s 25. Since then he’s been consistent for Leicester and their push for European football. Last season, despite a sluggish start to the season, he finished with 18 goals. He proved that he still got that finishing touch and blistering pace that made him one of the lethal strikers in the league. Next season, Vardy will be no different and will definitely have a good shot at the Golden Boot.
