Things to look out for in the Premier League

Yet another action-packed weekend in the Premier League is coming up. Here are the things to look out for during the fixtures.

Liverpool to move top of the table

Liverpool will be eager to move to the top of the Premier League table with a win over Bournemouth in their early Saturday kick-off. Bournemouth returned to winning ways when they beat Huddersfield 2-1 in midweek following a downturn in form. Prior to that, they had lost four consecutive matches, but they are still seventh in the table. Liverpool have won 39 points from 15 league games this season, which is their best-ever start to a top-flight league season. A win here could see them temporarily topple Manchester City and they have the wherewithal to do just that.

Chelsea to drop points again?

Chelsea were disappointed after dropping points away to Wolves during the midweek and things get even tougher this weekend as they host Manchester City on Saturday evening. The Blues have seen their results suffer in recent weeks and have won only one of their last four Premier League matches. Considering the visitors’ exceptionally good form, along with Chelsea’s noteworthy dip in performance level, we think Manchester City will win.

Harry Kane to torment Leicester’s defence

Tottenham moved to third in the Premier League table following their 3-1 win over Southampton and next they will make the trip to Leicester. Spurs have won three, drawn one, and lost two of their last six meetings with Leicester, but they have won four of their seven trips to the King Power Stadium. Harry Kane, in particular, has scored 13 goals in 11 appearances against Leicester City in all competitions during his career; more than he has versus any other opponent. He is likely to play a key role in the outcome of this fixture now that he is fit and firing.

Ralph Hasenhüttl Premier League debut

Southampton will be looking at their new manager Ralph Hasenhüttl to bring them out of their Premier League winless streak when they visit Cardiff on Saturday. Mark Hughes was shown the door following a string of poor results that included a 13-game winless run.  The former RB Leipzig tactician did well during his time in Germany, managing 120 points in the Bundesliga during his two-season spell as manager of RB Leipzig. He will have an opportunity to taste life in the Premier League and hopefully help Southampton regain stability.

Marco Silva and Richarlison to face former side

Everton will host Watford in a fixture that is sure to have lots of tension. The Everton manager Marco Silva and his Brazilian striker Richarlison are former Watford employees who were with the side as recent as last season. There is no love lost between Silva and the visitors, who sacked the Portuguese after form dropped following interest from the Toffees. Richarlison has been prolific since joining the Merseyside club, and to date, he has scored seven goals. He will be more than happy to add to his tally against his former club.
