Big Game Focus: Manchester United v Manchester City

Manchester City will face the last big test in their Premier League title challenge when they face off with arch-rivals Manchester United today. Bet on the match here.

Both Manchester clubs suffered the disappointment of Champions League elimination last week, and City are trying to sustain a title charge whilst United want to finish in the top four.

Manchester City won narrowly over the weekend when they played Spurs to keep their title ambitions alive. Manchester United for their part moped their way to a 4-0 thrashing at Goodison Park, pointing to serious issues that Ole Gunner Solskjaer needs to solve at the club.

You can expect some sort of reaction from the United players, though we doubt they have enough to get in the way of their City rivals.

Betting preview

Manchester City have won four league games in a row away from home and have only lost against one of the top six on the road this season. The last two trips to Old Trafford resulted in two 2-1 victories. This is likely to happen again going by current form and you can back an Away Win at odds of 1.50.

We expect a better showing from the Manchester United contingent than they did over the weekend. They have scored in nine of their last ten home games in the league and face a City defence that has conceded in six of their last ten on the road. Backing Both Teams to Score looks promising at odds of 1.65.

There have been Over 2.5 Goals scored in all but one of United’s last five outings in all competitions and the same is true in three of City’s last three. Therefore you can back Over 2.5 Goals at odds of 1.60.

Team news

Manchester United expect to have Luke Shaw back from a two-match ban whilst Ander Herrera has returned to training and could be handed the nod to start. Alexis Sanchez is also back from injury and he will be available for selection alongside Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard.

Kevin De Bruyne suffered another injury in Manchester City’s 1-0 win over Tottenham on Saturday and won’t feature here. Oleksandr Zinchenko and Benjamin Mendy are back to full fitness and they could be joined by Fernandinho who has not started any of City’s last three matches.
